Post Steppin’ on Some Neck in Bluemont
Had five or six gobbling this morning on the roost, but went quiet after flydown. Around 0700 I hear a bird gobbling about 200 yds away where I know there is a field. I hit the box call hard & he replies. 20 minutes later I call again & he is closer. Another 20 minutes & there he is at 50 yds.
Makes the last 30 yds to my single hen deke in full strut. Putted w diaphragm to get him to stick his head up so I wouldn’t blow a hole in his fan!
First 20 gauge bird!
21.5#, 9” beard, sharp 1” spurs

Congrats. Another 20 gauge convert. Have not carried a 12 gauge in about 5 years.
