I'd be curious to know if the gobblers burning it up early were mainly 2 year old bachelors who got run off from the bosses and their hens. We have an unreal number of gobblers this year with birds overflowing in places you don't normally find lots of birds. I am wondering if y'all had the same great hatch 2 years ago? Could this burning it up early action trey is seeing be attributed to lonely 2 year olds and not the time is already right? Was that a 2 year old bird Trey? If so maybe he did not gobble early because he's been whipped a few times?

Yes, he was a two year old bird. Also the two birds killed before this one were good birds, but I believe they were 2 years also. I have heard a few off to theirselves gobble but would not commit to a call.

I have also hunted to nice mature birds at a different locations that I have not been able to call yet. The first day of the season I saw these two gobblers with about 18 hens. Saw them once since then, they will gobble good on the roost but dont gobble at all once they are on the ground.
