So far have not seen anything on the trees around the house. Will be doing an acorn survey mid Sept. on the Q.

OOOPS! stand corrected on my earlier post about seeing no acorns. MY wife said there are some whites and reds and for me to go get my eyes checked. Well I looked through the binos and yes, she was right there are some reds and whites showing.

I live up here western NVA and from what I can tell from the multiple trees and limbs that have fallen down due to the last storms there are plenty of white and red acorns

Looks like a great crop of acorns this year, at least in this area.

White oaks in my yard in central NC seem to be barren again this year.

Just got back from the Virginia Arboretum. Was walking through the oak section and did not see any of the White Oaks with acorns. Sawtooth, pin, chestnut oak, Compton had acorns. Shumard Red Oaks were loaded. I would estimate that only 20% of the oak trees were carrying acorns. They have a good sample of some American Chestnuts - but none of them had mast on them. Now this is in Clarke County - not sure if the same would hold up for other areas.

I don't think there's going to be any white oak mast again this year. I'm seeing lots of hickories again though.

Had a thunderstorm last week in Rappahannock County and a limb broke out of a white oak. It was loaded with small acorns.
