this has been a wet fall in southern appalachia and the recent cold weather has brought on a real good crop of oyster mushrooms in the woods...any of you guys familair with this type of fall mushroom and are you having any luck colecting many?

GN where do you find them, growing on whay and are they still there. Show us a pic.

http://www.conservation.state.mo.us/nathis/mushrooms/mushroom/index.htm Look at this site and scfroll down to oyster mushroom description...they like rotting willow and maple logs and stumps...they are somewhat chewyier than morels and tasta a lot more like the mushrooms you wouldbuy in astore...just butter fry them with salt and pepper. especially look for them after a cold front follows a rainy period. Please ask someone knowledgable who KNOWs that you are eating the right ones before you start...
