Hi guys and gals. We have been very busy the past few weeks, but things are begining to slow down a bit. Here is a photo of my 15 year old son with his very first buck. We had a bit of luck , but things were pretty slow until Derek shot this one. The green SCI score is 180. There will be very few deductions due to nice symmetry. What do you all think?

Here is a deer that has a great (7") base with split brow tines. I couldn't get my fingers to touch when I rapped them around the base below the tines. He looses some strength above the first fork, but is a great over all buck. We aged him at 6.5 years old. I would have liked to have seen him last year.

Max, I'll try to call, but if things get busy and I haven't called by about 8:00 am your time or so on Dec. 1 call me at one of these numbers to make sure that we get hooked up. (406) 356-2461 home (406) 356-7253 office (406) 201-0084 cell Hey Hody, good to hear from you too. Here is one that a guy from Washington state killed. This guy measured 29.5 inches (outside). He is a real pig! Not quite as heavy horned or bodied as Derek's buck, but how can you argue with 29.5 inches?

Tom, Where in Montana is your ranch? I lived out in Great Falls for a while, and really miss Big Sky country every hunting season. My dad and I plan to apply for non-res tags next year.

mOOse~ Our ranch is 25 miles north of Colstrip, 12 miles southwest of Forsyth, and 95 miles east of Billings. That's a great photo. What kind of magnifacation are you using? |

I took this through the windshield of my truck with my olympus digital. That's why it's slightly hazy. I was in a panic just trying to get the lens cap off before he took off. It has a 10X optical zoom, but this guy was standing along the road not more than 25 yds away. He had another dandy buck with him...slightly smaller rack, but he vanished before I could get a pic. You are definitely in eastern Montana. I did some turkey hunting around Ekalaka a few years ago, and my son played baseball last year at Dawson CC in Glendive, so I've been over that way a time or two. Montana definitely gets in your blood...I still daydream of living out there again someday. |
