Found out today, me and some buddies got drawn for the Sika deer hunt on Chincoteague NWR. Now I need all the information I can find. Anyone hook me up with some. Will be hunting Zone 4 on 1/13 and 1/14. |

Awesome! I hunted marsh hen (Rail) there a few weeks ago and had a spectacular trip. I've heard that the Sika are one of the tastiest game. Be sure to let us know how it went! |

I had never heard of Sika Elk before. I see they have free ranging Sika on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Assateague Island also has a heard. They were brought here from Japan and released. They have no natural preditors here. Aren't I just a fount of usless information? Hey, Have a great hunt. I will look forward to the pictures. Ron |

Thanks guys. We're all really excited, but it's been tough finding any information out about what to expect (i.e. terrain, hunting tactics, etc.) Keep your ears open for anyone who's "been there and done that." I would really like to pick their brain Ken |

Hunting is in a combination salt marsh / pine forest terrain. Area four if I remember right is rifle, never hunted in those areas. Will be hunting 12/6 & 12/7 in area 2A, shotgun/muzzleloader. Have hunted there before. From what I have seen and heard. You will will need a flat shooting rifle and good binoculars and boots. |
